If you are questioning a shops labor price, dont bother using this forum as justification for not liking their price. That is an apples and oranges comparison. With that said, it can be done easily in under an hour by an experienced tech. A novice can get into over 1.5 hours and a beginner can take all day!

Most shops also go by the time listed in all data. If it say's it takes 3hrs then that's what you get charged even if it takes them 30 minutes. Also they tack on some more money to whatever parts they get for you.

Another words, if you are all thumbs then expect to fork out whatever the shop hourly rate is x the labor hrs as quoted per book + (for the suckers) an explanation for extra time due to rusty bolts, problems etc.; your only resort is that any extra work should've been authorized by you prior to the work being done if it was over and above quoted price in original written work agreement.
If you did not have the latter then you're toast. Cheers!

most shops have their own book hours some have alldata and use those book hours. but most have their own especially dealerships.

in reality with air tools and a lift you can do axles in like 15-30 mins tops and thats taking your time.

fixing your car in general is going to cost a lot especially with auto repair insurance companies coming out the prices are going to increase. its like with autobody and paint.. years ago you coulda got your car painted for pretty cheap and it was a good job... but then it became mandatory to have insurance and since everyone had insurance the price sky rocketed... its only a matter of time for mechanics.

Mitchell OnDemand5 (what lots of shops use) says it pays 2.4 hours for both sides.

I guess some do and some don't. Thomas Subaru/Honda uses All Data. My friend is a certified tech there.
