Default Is it me or bad synchros

sup,
i have a 00' si w/ act clutch. when i want to downshift into gears it is hard for me to get it into gear, i kind of need to force it in. i know if u shift into gear 1 from a roll it will mess up ur tranny, although i enter a school zone or something, i was going 40 and now going 20, it wont let me shift into gear 2 unless i force it in, if i force it in it doesnt make a scratch noise or anything. although i have to admit this is my first car or in other words first time to drive a standard tranny. Are transmissions supposed to be like this or wat? thanks

Weak, worn-out synchros will let you get thru & grind. Forcing them is how to turn a good synchro into a weak one...
