Default Maximum Compression for Street (Part Time) Driven LS/VTEC?

I am thinking about trading my 1st gen b16a short block for an LS & go with Crower rods - can I use my CTR pistons. or will 12.5:1 compression rule out pump gas? I have a portflow built b16a head with milling and bowl work, valvetrain, etc. Or will it be knock, knock, knocking & detonating with all the timing dialed out??

What would be maximum CR for a street (occasional) LS/VTEC setup on 93 octane gas?

Not sure if I believe Endyn 13:1 street pistons....

RED... I run 12.5:1 w/ CTR pistons (LS/VTEC) everyday on 93 octane. It's been running for over a year and a half - problemless! Just routine maintenance, constant oil level monitoring, and timing retarded a bit (14 degrees or so). I'm still OBD-II (ITR ECU) and running testpipetech's testpipe w/ 2nd O2 bung (no CEL). Anyways, ......12.5:1 = no problem, if done properly. I know a few who run 13:1 on 93 and also have no problems. Good luck!

try 12.5, but not any higher. get a J&S safeguard to... for safety precautions

can't go by compression numbers, doens;t work like that especially after cams are degree'd in with overlap, cylinders lose pressure and therefore pump octane gas is very doable as couple people here has mentioned about their cars.

with your b16a setup its very hard to achieve over 12:1 ratio since the stroke is so short, so even if you used the endyn rw or ctr piston domes it wil yield low 11's anyway.

12.5:1 here with no J&S and no problems...

Hmmm, sounds good. Leaning that way anyway. My CR should have been 11.2:1 but may be a couple tenths higher in current b16a app. with the portflow head mods and CTR pistons and so pretty sure it would be 12.5 in LS.

BTW, I had to go to a diff sparkplug as I had interference with the suggested (Erick's b16a, etc.)!

Kind of sad that I really won't have been able to max out current combo as ITR cams not dyno tuned in. Gonna take it out one more time Fri. and then run the local event on Nov. 11 at MIR (and get KILLED by the bigger hybrid motors in lighter cars!) without either Quaife OR CM Stage 4 replacement clutch....
