manual trans problem? reverse
I'm new to manual trannys. Anyway, I got this car, sometimes when I'm going in reverse, I put the clutch all the way to the floor, I can still hear that whirr noise Honda's make in reverse. I thought if the clutch is all the way down, in it's not in reverse. In neutral it shouldn't be making that noise. Also if I put it in first at that time with the clutch still in, it makes some crunching sounds. Supposedly this car has a new clutch. Do I need to adjust the clutch cable or anything? (90 hatch Si)
The whirring sound is from dog gears, the reverse gears aren't slanted like the forward gears which don't produce noise. I would adjust the clutch cable so that it grabs somewhere in the middle. If it's grabbing too far down then it might not be disengaging the clutch all the way which will cause it to grind gears.
