Default Malfunction Indicator Light with P1457 Code

Hello,

I realized that there was a tech forum, where I should have posted in the first place. I also have this question on the Accord Forum.

I have a 1998 Accord V6 with a P1457 code (thanks to AutoZone). The dealer told me that the Canister Vent Shut valve needs to be replaced, but they also want to charge me a bunch of money to do the job. The dealer also told me that the code might be due to some other problem and that it was necessary to charge me the diagnostic fee.

I was hoping to do it myself.

Can anyone give me some advice as to how hard it would be to fix it myself? Does the tank need to be dropped or partially lowered?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

check your gas cap because alot of people get this code when their gas cap isn't tight. Also reset your ecu to clear codes by taking out the radio fuse or unplug the batery for a minute.
