the maint light is on when i start up my gsr. no blinking...i've changed my oil just under 1000 miles ago and i have 93.8k miles on the odometer. any ideas wat it could be for?

 

did you push the button under the dash ?

 

Just hold the switch under the dash. It's off to the lower left side of the steering wheel on the back side of the panel just hold it and turn ur ignition to second click, hold for a few seconds and that should do it.

 

yeah.....does the maintenance light just go by mileage?? Mine turned red shortly after I bought my car(at 25k) which seems about right for a general tune-up. So I reset it and it turned redish -orange very quickly at about 40k. didn't think much of it....my car is fine. I reset it again though. I guess it is programmed to turn colors about every 20k....but that's a little much, hmmmm?

as long as you regularly maintenance your car I wouldn't really go by that silly meter

yes, it is set by mileage.

 

I used to work at Acura in the service department. The maint. req. light comes on every 7500 miles as Acura recomends a service on your vehicle. The 7,500 mile intervals aren't the important ones. The 15,000k, 30,000k, 45,000k and so-on are the important services. These include valve adjustments, replacing plugs, wires, filters etc. However the 90,000k mark is a very important mileage marker. It's recommended that you change Timing Belt and Water Pump at 90,000k. I've done every service on my car from the 7,500 mile service to the my up and coming 82,500 and my car runs like it's brand ****** new. Trust me those services are worth it.
