Today i changed my oil pan gasket and a block later i started to spill out oil. after further looking we saw oil spilling out of the main seal. I rebuilt my engine about 2000kns ago. Can anything effect or cause the main seal to go beisides wear and tear? was this jsut a coincidense? now im pulling out the tranny to fix it. anyone had similar problems? or ideas to why this might of happened?

 

Nope, they just go bad over time. Replace it.

 

is it leaking from the tranny or belt end of the engine, tranny side is the rear main seal. on the other end ther are the front main, oil pump, and cam seals

 

what car is this on..
did you use silicon on the gasket.. on the civics you have to silicon parts of the pan.
