ok h-t guys i have an oil leak after replacing the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket. im thinking it is the seal around the crankshaft pulley right above the oil pan is that the rear main seal?

no.thats the oil seal (front main seal). rear main seal is at the tranny side.

ok thanks i just was thinking that it didnt make since any advice or tips on install?

front and rear main seals are really pain in the butt to replace. i suggest get a repair manual and go from there.the parts are very cheap. it is the labor thats costs most. get a right set of tools and a lot of patient and time

yea me and my diesel tech buddy are gonna take a weekend and do it ourselves but thanks for the help.
