Default main relay quik fix

Check this out. Car is an 88dx hatch.
my main relay has been acting up lately.
the typical run in the store or get gas, you know then car won't start.
I pulled it out a few days ago to check the solder. It looked ok.
Tonite I left papa john's with dinner. Main relay failure again.
I08 deg outside. No shade.

office max was next door, so i ran inside an got that "air in a car". Computer people use it to clean their equipment. It has carbon dioxide in it. if you hold the can upside down and spray the main relay it cools it instantly. This was pretty easy because i didn't put all the plastic pieces back that covered the main relay. That **** started immediately

I know this sounds crazy but it worked for me. What's your opinions on this?

no get a new one or take it with you replies please.

The reason the cooling worked was the additional summer heat causes the joints to expand so although you did not want this, either replace your existing relay or touch up the relay you have. I'd just buy a new one, honda has come out with a newer stlye for most models since they realized that heat was causing the joints to crack.

If you are on a budget just re-solder all the connections. It should work fine if you have any soldering skills otherwise just get a new one.

On the outside of the new relay it might look different from the old one because of an updated design. Good Luck

Or you can just jump pins 1 and 7 together for a emergency fix.. Dont let it sit like this because your fuel pump isnt going to turn off..

thanks for the replies everybody.
I plan to de/resolder the main relay.
If it fails again i'll spend the $70 for a new one.
