Default Main Relay

What should I be reading when I connect my volt meter to the Main Relay...EF....

I see what prongs to connect them to:

I tried between 4 and 8 terminal.....all ohm settings are giving me a "1"

And I checked 5 and 7 too.....and am only getting a "1"

If I have infinite resistance....that means no continuity right? Meaning time for a new main relay?

In between 5 and 2.....im reading 1.45 (20M)
In between 1 and 3............only getting "1"

In between 3 and 8....I get 7.3 (20M)
In between 5 and 7.....I get "1"

If I have infinite resistance....that means no continuity right? Meaning time for a new main relay?

Thanks in advance.....Im pretty sure the relay is bad.....no fuel pump

The book is saying to test it with volatage going to 5 and 2 and check for continuity between 1 and 3. From your readings it looks like you aren't applying voltage. If the relay is out of the socket pin 1 and 7 should read high resistance to all other pins because they aren't connected to anything when the relay is not energized. Pins 3,4,5 have a diode in line so the meter will read differently depending on which meter lead you have going to that pin. For example red lead to pin 4, black lead to pin 8, now reverse the leads. The reading should have changed. If your meter has a diode check try the same test again, with the leads hooked up one way you should get about .6, reverse the leads and the meter should read 0. And then do this with pins 5 and 2.

I probably was reading it slighty wrong....but I changed out the relay and everything is perfect........maybe because it was blown that it gave me wierd readings, oh well

Thanks for the help
