OK so i have an lsvtec setup 94 block and 00 gsr head and a chipped gsr ecu skunk2 i think. the wierdest thing that has happened yet was on saturday. i was driving on the freeway and went to eccelerate over 4200 rpms and bam it was like hiting a rev limiter it was just bouncing off 4200 it was really wierd. the other problem i am having is that it is running super rich i thought this was due to the chipped ecu but it was still running right when i put the stock ls ecu back in, im not 100% its rich because my air fuel gauge isnt working for some reason its tapped into the the obd2-1 harness that goes to my ecu and on a good ground but wont get out of the first 3 bars of lean but i can look out my rear window when i floor it and see the little black cloud. im not sure exactly what is going on if someone could give me a some input that would be awsome. btw when i have my gsr ecu in a get the knock sensor code even tho the chip should take that away and i am still able to hit vtec. when i have the gsr ecu in and the car should be running like an lsvtec it really isnt i dont feel much when i go into vtec its almost like having an ls that make a noise at 5200 rpms lol.
Sorry if this offends you, but I've read that sentence three times and I'm trying to figure out a way to help you, but I can't understand what you're saying.
No VTEC? Or VTEC that you can't feel? Never goes above 4200? Or sometimes it never goes above 4200?
I'll just assume that your car didn't come stock with VTEC and your wiring is loose maybe?
Edit: Check your VTEC wiring first, then try swapping distributors with a friend and see if it solves the problem, as for your afr gauge, do you have a wideband o2 sensor? If not, wire your gauge to the battery, a voltmeter is more functional than an inaccurate a/f gauge.

sorry i wrote that **** in like 1 minute lol. I have vtec. the vtec wiring is perfect nothing lose. the car goes into vtec all the time even with the CEL on for the knock sensor. my car has only not reved passed 4200 one time that was saturday and it did it a few times that day all within the same 2 hours tho. it has not done it since then. so your saying take the positive "power" and just run it streight to the battery? no i do not have a wideband.

i think i figured out the a/f guage problem. i didnt screw the o2 sensor in very tight so it was comming really lose and so the ground was getting fucked up. havnt had a chance to put the car up so i can tighten it but i did it just with my hand and it was reading until it unscrewed itself.

Sounds like something set a hard fault code in the computer that day it wouldn't rev past 4200. When the computer reads a hard fault code, it goes into limp mode and runs super rich and won't allow it to rev much higher than 4000. If you can find a way to read the stored codes in the ECU, you could find out what put it into limp mode... it might be your only problem - other than the knock sensor code.
I'm not sure if jumping the service jumper will display stored codes, but a scan tool will be able to pull the code out of the memory easily. I think the service jumper trick only displays current codes....
