Default lsvtec ? please help ASAP

Well i was working on taking the head off my ls block and i was ready to take the camshafts out. I loosen the timing belt tensioner bolt and it gave a little slack, not that much. Also i have never done a timing belt job so im trying to avoid this process so im sticking with the ls oil pump, water pump, and timing belt. Anyways at this point im curious on how im going to tighten the belt back up when the new head is on. so i tighten the tension bolt and it does nothing so i loosen it back up again and decide to turn the crankshaft pulley clockwise. well once i did that the belt did tighten but i was still able to pull the camshafts out at an angle sliding it out with the cam gears. well my question is how do you exactly loosen this timing belt and tighten it correctly? im planning on puttin the vtec head on tomorrow so i need to know this ASAP in order get everything at top dead center. More info for you guys so you can help me.. this is being done with the motor in the car, timing belt cover is still on except the one attached to the ls head which is off the block, and im trying to avoid having to take off that motor mount in order to do this timing belt tighten/loosen procedure. so i hope there is a way to do this without having to take off the timing belt cover basically. hope you guys can help me soon! thanks

first things first, you're using an ls oil pump...don't. go out and get a b series vtec pump. second, you can use a pry bar to push up on the tensioner and then the ratchet to tighten the bolt.

Last I checked you needed to use either a GSR or Type R timing belt to do the conversion. My advise to you is to not cut corners and do the job right the first time. It will save you alot of headaches in the future.
