LSVTEC headgasket?

With LSVTEC motors do you normally remove the little brass rings on the headgasket, like shown here on C-Speedracing or can you get away with just leaving them.... http://www.c-speedracing.com/howto/l...headgasket.jpg

Just did one this weekend. I took off the one near the vtec oil gallery plug. It had clearance without removing it but better safe than sorry.

i have heard this before but mine clear. its a b20vtec but that should not matter. why do you suppose mine clear?
