I cant speak for an ls/vtec, but i can for a b20. I had a stock b20 with b16 head. All stock ran really really well. I used to have a type r, was more powerful than at low end, however with the b16 head, didnt get as much lift as the ITR. But ls/vtec 1.8, b20 2.0. MORE displacement more power.

Everyone is going to be bias towards which they like: just my .02. Just get as much info from people, look at dynos etc... all depends what u want out of the setup.

Well, if you're building the motor and plan on resleeving it anyway, just buy the LS since it's much cheaper and bore it out to 84mm. This will give you the same displacement as a B20/vtec. The B20 and LS both use the same crank which gives them the same stroke (89mm). The only difference between the two is the bore... 81mm for the LS and 84mm for the B20B/Z.

id go crvtec cause thats what i have.

Hes right though, people are gunna be bias as to what they have.

Honda cranks are forged, their pistons arnt.

I didn't notice you included gsr into the mix... If you're going to "build" a motor, I would recomend the gsr. You can get just as much power out of that engine as you can from a ls/crvtec, and it's more reliable. for a Frankenstein engine, it's more than just slappnig a vtec head on and expecting alot of power. There's many other factors.

When you say you're "building a motor", what exactly do you plan to do? Is this for Turbo or N/A? How much money do you have to play with?

I guess I'm biassed towards the GSR because I have one

You don't "have" to resleeve the crv block if you're going all motor, but it's safer because the stock crv sleeves arn't made for high compression pistons. But, since you plan on squeezing, I say yes you should sleeve the block. The crv sleeves are weaker than the LS sleeves stock. I know a guy boosting up to 16psi on stock LS sleeves.

In your case, I would say stick with LS/Vtec since you don't have much money to play with. The Crv/vtec build will cost you around 5000. With the LS, you can "half ***" it a little more. However, if you do go with the LS, I would at least get some good pistons and rods...ie. ITR, CTR.

^A crvtec does not have to cost 5k, in fact, not nearly that. Engine:800-900 shipped, b16 head: 400-500 shipped, so you leave it stock all over, and maybe you have the tranny from your old b-series. Thats good for 150whp and about 135wtq, at only 1400. Throw in an extra 500 for anything that goes wrong, and seals, mounts, whatever. Only 1900. Lots of potential, no costly boring and sleeving, run low psi if you turbo until you have the money to build the bottom end/block to a CRVTEC MONSTER!

sounds like u dont' have much experience with b20's. everyone knows the sleeves are weaker, but they ARE NOT glass..

i wouldn't hesitate to run a 75shot on my motor right now
