LSD Installation pricing?
I have an exedy clutch, ITR flywheel, KAAZ LSD sitting around waiting to be installed. how much do you think it would cost for installing these 3 parts?
I got a quote for $722. would it fit in the expensive or regular range?

The price really depends on the shops rate. My dealer quoted me about 6.5-7 hours for an LSD only. At $85 per hour that is......well I will let you do the math.
Most shops price from a standard book which gives the number of hours. If you go to a specialty performance shop they may have done the job before and pass on savings. For all three parts 722 does not seem too bad. The clutch and flywheel will take a little longer than just a LSD but those three parts are definatly one of the "while your at it" type of jobs. To do the LSD they need to drop the tranny which is pretty much a clutch install and while the tranny is dropped the flywheel is easily accessable.
I dropped my tranny and took it apart and let me tell you as soon as you think you are paying a lot for a diff install think again its SUCH A ROYAL PAIN IN THE ****
this place called "clutch mart" but im gonna check out Aamco transmission. i think they do a better job... and better yet! they have financing.

I am going to be putting my Quaife in myself. The only thing I am somewhat worried about is making sure the tolerances are all right...
But your gonna pay some good $$$ to have a shop do it.

Technically yes its good, If you could delivr the tranny to a shop with the additional parts you need from Honda they shoudl only charge like 4 hours, most shops also charge up to 4 hours for clutch job (when in the car). What you guys need is Mitchells on demand estimating guide, it will tell you how many hours are acceptable to complete a job.
i got another quote from Aamco Transmission. they wanted $907! but they sound like they knew a little bit more what they were talking about more. the mechanic at clutchmart ask if my civic was a 4 or 6 cylinder over the phone. huh? but then im thinking LSD installation is pretty straight forward. which should i take it to? clutch mart for $722 or Aamco Transmission for $907?
Which shop? It really all depends on which one you feel more comfortable with. I would keep looking around and see if you can find a shop that has done some performance work. Check with your local SCCA and see if they have any shops that do work for members. You may even get a discount
