Default ls/vtec vs crvtec

from the way you put together, seems the same. i hear people with crvtec disappointed with the amount they spent and rather go lsvtec and still push out same #s. so whats the difference in tq/hp? is it similar?

b16a with ctr pistons, stock b20 block, stock ls block? i cant decide what to get. with the price, its not much of difference, so im just wondering what would be a good block for a reliable and powerful engine? thanks.

neither is reliable! You may want to get the LS block if $$$ is an issue. Personally, I would get the b20 sleeved and go with 11.5 compression pistons.

LS sleeved to 84mm will be cheaper than relsleeved b20

even the b16a with ctr pistons is unreliable?

the only real diff between the sleeved LS and stock B20 is that due to
casting imperfections, not every CRV block is created equal. there are
methods to use from what I have read that you go about choosing a
CRV block that will withstand the abuse of CRVTEC power output.
Honda QC standards on CRV block isnt as rigorous as for the higher
hp/liter builds like B16a, B18C, etc. a GE sleeved LS block is the best
of both worlds. GE's sleeves make the motor more rigid and capable of
handling more pressure, however do not heat and cool the same as
aluminum. I am not sure on how that all plays into tuning a motor like that,
however going sleeved B18B with forged internals makes sense to me.
unless you understand the whole "posting" process of a stock block...

...Note the posts on the intake side (major thrust axis) of the block. These will support the cylinders under the high loads this engine will be seeing...
