Default LS/Vtec Check Engine Light/1500 Idle

Ok, I am at work so I am unable to see the code. I drove to the Post Office and the to Chick Fila with the AC on chillin, No speeding. As I sit in Chick-Fila the Check Engine light comes on then the car idles at 1500 RPM. When I start to pull off the car studders. Also V-tec does not engage. Any suggestions on what this might be? I have the Helms but it's at the house. Thanks for the help guys.

Jump the service and see what code flashes.

Low Oil could be a possibility.

Cool thanks. I just checked the OIL on Sunday. Hopefully there is no leaks.

OK I jumped the ECM and I received 3 Quick flashes for the check engine light. Idle Air Control Valve?

search idle problems on the search place, you'll get people saying there is a vacuum leak in the intake manifold causing your idle to bounce or be high or whatever.

Ok, I found the Evap Control Canister hanging on one of the Axels. I think it fell off due to construction. However there is another box attached to it that is hanging that I am trying to find out what that is? After removing the paper clip the Check engine light is gone. I haven't driven the car yet becuase I have my son, however I stepped on the pedal a few times and the check engine has not come on yet.

I am a little unsure on which part to replace, the MAP Sensor or the IACV. I have 3 Short Blinks. Both of the parts are very expensive, if anyone has experience with this issue previously please help. Thanks.
Or is there a way to bypass this to get the car running with default parameters. Thanks.

are sure that all of your vacuum hoses are hooked up and not leaking? a code 3 is for the MAP sensor. the code for the EACV/IACV is 14.

usually when i get a code 3 (because of running too rich) the CEL comes on and my rpms surge constantly. even under load my rpms will surge with a code 3.

so your engine just idles high and shudders at take off? my first guess is that you have a vacuum leak.

well have you tried unplugging both the MAP and IACV one at a time to see how it affects the way your engine runs? give that a try.

Ok, I unplugged the map and nothing changed, I took pictures of a part that appears to be missing a hose but I am not sure, is this right?
