Default ls vtec in a 99 civic si please help

I was thinking of putting an ls vtec in my 99 si but i have some questions!! i want to know if there is any difference between the 90-93 integra ls blocks and the 94-00 integra ls blocks?? would the 99 civic si head have any problems fitting on any of these blocks?? what hydro trannys would fit the 90-93 integra blocks?? I am thinking of using a 90-93 integra block because i can find those anywhere and they are the cheapest!!! would a b16a vtec head work with it?? would the internals in the 90-93 integra be able to hold up the high compression or would i have to do some changes in the internals??? All i have for my 99 si is the engine wiring harness.. no ecu, motor mounts, axels nothing!! I also need to know if the 99 civic si shift linkage will work with whatever tranny that will bolt up to either of these blocks!!!! Please help out!!!!

the 90-93 and 94-01 blocks have minor differences. i believe the 90-93 has an extra sensor on the back of the block but the 94-01's have a sensor on the waterneck. regardless of which block you decide to use because of price and availability, keep in mind you are building a motor that most people want to be able to rev to at least 7800 rpm in. and most older b18 blocks have 100K+ miles on them. be sure to replace all seals, gaskets, etc in the block.

based on your questions, i see you are new at this. to build a high compression motor, there arevarious things you can add to bump it up, ie. pistons, cams, etc. as for the compression, the stock ls pistons will need to be thrown out. if you're on a budget, you can opt for some b16a pistons. also, pretty much all b series parts are interchangeable with one another, heads, blocks, trannys, etc. and yes, you will be fine with the 99 si shift linkage.

if you should decide to keep the bottom end stock for now, replace the main/rod bearings and piston rings. this is a must in every engine build.

Any B-Series tranny will bolt up to any B series block. Depending on which tranny you get, the gearing will be different. The 94 DOHC Head will bolt up just fine. Cant really remember if the old DOHC has more sensors or not. I would re-use ur own manifold to simplify wiring etc.

This guy said it.

I personally would use the B18B just on acount of it being newer, but do as you must.

the reason i want to use the old block is because i can get the whole motor for a 100 bucks and the newer ones the cheapest i can find is 800 and then i would have to pay for shipping!!! This way i can put that extra 700 bucks into the motor but I want to make for sure what trannys will bolt up to the 90-93 block and what motor mounts i would have to use to mount it in the 99 si and I also need to know if the 99 civic si wiring will work on a 94 dohc vtec head or if I have to get the 94 engine wiring but then I need to know what ecu to get and if that ecu will work with the car wiring?? I dont want to go out and buy all of this stuff and then not be able to bolt it all up and be screwed so if anyone out there absolutely knows for sure what will work and what wont PLEASE HIT ME UP!!!!!
