Default ls bottom end rebuild problem

So I just got my crank back from the machine shop. Installed new main bearing rotates good no problem. So i went to install the two pistons from each end and once i torqued it down i tried to rotate the crank but it was had as **** to even get a full rotation at one point it didnt want to move. So i took it apart and my bearing on the rods where kinda scored. I used a good amount of assembly lube. Im using gsr rods with a ls crank. Not sure what could be the problem im might end up using my old ls rods and pistons. Any input on the problem? Oh after i removed the rods and rotated the crank and move freely. And when i didn't have the rods torqued down just hand tight it would spin no problem?

why are you using gsr rods on an ls crank? you realize they're longer right? what pistons are you using?

Buy some plastigauge and find out you have the wrong bearings.

Will do and also the machine shop said they went with 40 on mains and 20 on the rod journals. Im using the stock rods. There isnt no crank shaft play from side to side and used the two shims for the crankshaft.

so you're assembling an engine without checking bearing clearances?

with you not checking clearances and not knowing ls and gsr rods are not the same length, do you think you should really be assembling this engine? do you even have the correct torque specs and sequences?

yes ma'mm I do. I also went by using the zealautowerks calculator and i thought - was still sitting below the block on the ptd height. Well Iv been reading forums that maybe the machine shop gave me the wrong rod bearings so I have to go up there tomarrow and see if they did. thanks for the help so far

so just for giggles i went to install one of my ls pistons using tge old rod bearing and torqued it down and it actual span freeley no problems. So that leads me to believe the machine shop ordered the wrong rods bearings.

the rods can be different sizes so if your rods are different size it wont match clearance wise

just give it to them, have them assemble it. that way if anything goes wrong, you can blame them. gsr rods on an ls crank would have your pistons out of the hole at TDC.

At this point I would hand it over to the professionals to put it together. Also, get yourself a factory service manual and take your time reading it...
