they have to be deepend some so the valve doesn't run into the top of the piston, but some people say they are fine when u use stock cams..

I have always thought that the valve reliefs will be ok with stock cams and as long as you dont retard/advance the timing more than 4.

I think that vtec valves are 33mm and novtec's are 31mm.

This has been my understanding.

So do you guys think it would be safe to just use stock B20 sleeves with some high compression pistons as long as it's tuned?
yes no problem. with high compression your enemy will be headgaskets.

and a Block Girdle protects the bottom of the enging aka the block, from twisting and deforming during high revs... even aabove 8000 rpm the B20 and LS blocks will age faster without a block girdle attached. If you are building a B20vtec to run up to and not over 8000 rpm you could choose to NOT run a block girdle, but you still may see premature failure from this depending on what your circumstances of revving are... a road racer at 6000 rpm-8000rpm all day long every weekend will see his motor die sooner than a daily driver that sees 90% of its time at 5000 rpm.

Thanks a lot guys. My plan is to use a B16 motor and tranny, B20 block, JE 12:1 pistons, Crower rods, GSR headbolts, and maybe a Z10 block girdle. Give me advice on what girdles to use. Also want some Skunk2 Stage 3 cams.

I heard you use GSR headbolts because B16 ones are too short.
