The low-down on spark plugs
A BIG Thanks goes out to John at NGK for his help.
B16A spark plugs are PFR6L-13
The NGK Iridium plug equivalent is BKR6EIX-11
(3764 stock number)
The NGK V Power plug equivalent is BKR6E-11 (2756 stock number)
John advised that the Iridium plug will work well with an MSD ignition, even though it has a fine wire diode. The v power plug does provide some added performance, but is equalled by the Iridium plug. Non-resistor plugs can be used, but are really only for heavy drag racing applications because of the RFI interference that can be created. Resistor plugs are fine for a street car with mild track use. Heavier race use can cause the resistor to break. He advised that the stock ecu can be burned out from the RFI that non-resistor plugs create. Most spark plugs are the projected type in late model cars. Projected, meaning that the plug is elongated, placing the diode deeper into the cylinder. Non-projected are more for 12-16:1 compression engines, and are applicable to racing applications.
The NGK spark plug wire part number for the B16A is HE-64 or 9775. MSD does not make a wire direct fitted for the B16A, I was using the wires for the integra.
The iridium plugs are $6.40 from sparkplugs.com and I got the NGK Power wires (blue ones 7mm) from them as well for $51.95. Wires were cheaper than Summits price. Monarch (sparkplugs.com) is 1-888-800-9629.
edit: 51.95 for Power Wires, not the OEM's
