I had my b16 rebuilt, and did the usually hone,resuraced head/block, new rings, bearings etc..the block was assembled by a reputable shop. The engine starts right up but it seems to lack power. I compression tested it and got around 150-160 psi on all the cylinder. I'm not burning any oil, but when i did a wet compression test it shot up to 210 psi. After 500 miles are my piston rings still not seated? I did the usual half throttle pulls and decels when i broke in the engine. Any thoughts/help?

 

It does not seam like the rings have set yet, or rings did not get gapped properly. 94

 

If they have not set more they most likely won't ever set. What was your first warm up and drive like? Did you baby it and drive like a little old lady or did you rip on it some?

 

I primed it a like you usually do for a new motor, then started it, let it idle for 20 mins or so, and changed the oil, took it for a drive and went wot on it to 7k and decel'd. But after that i did leave the car sitting for a year, because i was too busy with school work. The car was running really rich when i first started it since it had stage one cams and i was running a base map, but i've since gotten a dyno tune, and it runs good, a:f is perfect.
