lotus side draft carbs??
anyone know anything about side draft carbs?
was at the junkyard looking for turbos and came across a Lotus with dual side drafts on it!!
are they good carbs? worth anything??
I was going to take them but not sure if it is worth it... I did not ask how much they wanted for them, but they let stuff go pretty cheap... I grabbed a laser (DSM) turbo and side mount IC for $60 (and the turbo is good too)
anyone offer any info/advise??

might work, if you can weld, and machine for injectors... they are pretty big, gotta be 50mm of close to it...
going to search some more tomorow when I have more time... only found cars for sale so far, not much in the way of parts

they are completely different... carbs are mechanical, injection is electronic (for the most part anyway)
if you really think you have some skills, then cut the front part (inlet and plates) and weld/attach it to some tubes, and weld it to a flange, and machine out holes for the injectors... you would need some good machineing equipment .
if I had the tools, and the time I would try it...
or just learn to tune carbs

well... I guess I will go back and grab them... they should be pretty cheap, and even if I dont sell them, I will just throw them in a box.... when I am an old man with nothing to do I can mess around with them
unless someone wants them... I will not mark up much

that was the original idea, not to utilize carb injection but retain fuel injection

throw them on ebay. My Dad dug up a bunch of old hot rod stuff that's been sitting in his garage for about, oh 25 years or so and made a MINT! A magneto for a flathead Ford that didn't even work went for $1200. SOMEONE is looking for stuff like this.
