loss of oil?????
i have a b18c1 that is drinking oil likes its pay day on a friday and its a buck a beer at the bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heres what i have found while trouble shooting.......
no oil leaking externally from the motor.
oil is clean and so is the antifreeze so head gasket is still good.
compression test is 220 psi across the board.
i drove the car for 150 miles and the dip stick went from the full mark to completely dry. i checked it both times when the motor was cold and had sat for atleast a couple of hours. i put 10w30 oil in it.
i was told that i could do a leak down test but it is most likely shot rings rather then a problem in the head.
i tried searching but cośldn't find anything to convincing that its time to do the block up.
let me know what you think boys and girls
thanks

Hmm...The only cheap thing I can suggest is to find an oil treatment called "restore" and use it on the next oil change, since that product is designed to reduce oil consumption by improving the seals around the pistons and filling in the small cracks and abrasions inside the cylinder. Its not a permanent fix, but it should help until you find the source of the problem. If you cannot find the source of the problem from any external means, then you may have some serious cracks or abrasions in the walls of the cylinders themselves, which would cause a loss in oil. If that's the case, you would also notice a drop in compression. If it is bad rings or seals, then the costs are usually low, depending on the rings/seals that need to be replaced and whether or not you have to take the entire engine apart just to replace them. It could also be the type of oil you are using...If you use a low-quality oil, then most of the oil is not being consumed, rather it is turning to sludge due to its inability to handle the heat from combustion. I would recommend Castrol or TropArtic oils, SAE Energy Conserving II rating if you can find some.
