Default losing power

today when i took my car for a test drive at 7.5k rpm my car jerked foward and lost power (it felt like i stepped on the brakes). i recently put in a itr header and a cat(didnt have 1 b4) i havent reseted my ecu yet but was wondering if that would help my problem. thanks

If the check engine light is off, i'd check the timing belt. If it's on, check the codes and go from there.

i heard something moving around in my brand new cat.. it looks like the back part of the internal cone as broken inside. would this be a result of me losing power due to unconstant airflow??

A plugged up cat, or not functioning one, will definitely make you lose power. What type of cat did you put in??? In that case, replace it.

i had a "brand new" magnaflow cat. i took out the remaining pieces of the broken cone and now it runs fine. planning to replace it soon also.
