Longblock and shortblock?
I believe a longblock is used to identify an engine that is complete wif the head and the bottom block itself. And shortblock refers to just the bottom block wif no head. I'm not sure if I'm right tho.
Shortblock doesn't include the head. Just crankcase, crank, pistons, probably oilpan, etc...
Longblock includes the head. Sometimes includes the manifold(s), but it's probably a good idea to get the seller to be completely clear about what's included. I never thought it included the tranny.
