Loctite problem need advice
I seem to have been a little overzealous with some Loctite Red and have bound a pin in an on/off valve.
Is there a solvent out there that will remove the Loctite?
I really dont want to can this valve.
Thanks

heres from the faq at the loctite website. http://www.loctite.com/selector/faqs.html#removal
As a note: Methylene chloride is nasty . It might even be hard to get as a result of its bad rep. as a carninogen. Toluene or Xylene might be an acceptable alternative.
Q: How can I remove a fastener that is "permanently" locked in?
A: The application of heat is needed to remove a fastener that can't be removed with a hand tool. Temperatures of 325F and above is needed to break down a standard anaerobic, 500F for high temperature Anaerobics. A heat gun or propane torch is commonly used to do this process, and careful disassembly should occur while parts are still hot. Once apart, and cooled, use methylene chloride (Chisel #79040) to remove cured excess material. Always wipe down the fasteners with clean up solvent to remove the wax film that Chisel leaves on the surface.

Go ask on Thefiringline.com It's a firearms forum. A lot of people use LocTite red to install sights. Ask some of the guys there how to remove it. I remember there is a solvent that will remove it without having any ill effects. Good luck.
