locked motor?
So my friend and i were going to get some food the other day and we were in his car and all of a sudden his overflow tank falls out, then when he pressed on the gas to pass someone there was no response, the car was stuck at 65mph and it slowly started going down in speed. When we came to a stop light the car just died and he tried turning it on but it wouldnt turnover. The fuel pump wouldnt prime either, and when we check to see if any fuel was coming out there was non. My guess is the fuel pump went out. But i was wondering if the motor might have hydro-locked? The motor is a d16z6 head with a d15b block. Its running on 7lbs of boost. And it has stock internals.
The only way the engine would "hydro-lock" would be if you drove through a puddle deep enough to submerge the complete air intake.
Beleave me, when an engine hydro-locks, you know it, it is one ugly sound.
Also as mentioned, the fuel pump not priming has absolutly nothing to do with an engine hydro-locking.
Questions...
MM&Y of car?
Do you have any power at all, head lights, horn, blower motor, wipers.
When you try and crank the engine to start it, is there any sound at all, even a "click" from the starter solenoid?
Have you tried a bypass jump?
