Lockable? Only method?
Did A search and found nothing that said anything good and this is kind of unique
Is it safe to run just hood pins with no latch?
I bought a fiberglass zc style hood for my crx. Problem is that something is messed with the hood. Fitment was amazing UNTIL I put the hood latch on and then when it locked onto the latch on the rad support and it sits about an inch over the headlights and front bumper and you can almost stick your hand right up in the gap. Only thing I could think of was getting a set of LOCKING hood pins. I was gonna get pins already but this made me think that locking ones would do the trick.
I want to take of my latch and just have my locking hood pins holding my hood down. Ive never seen locking hood pins though, are they huge? expensive?
Would this still be a fairly safe way to secure my ride? I actually felt it was even more secure for people trying to steal my **** and I dont think hood pins have any flaws that they can be openned easily. Anyone have a pic of them or ideas?
EDIT: found a pic on an ebay auction, is that circle the actually circle that shows on my hood? It looks ******* huge. How are they unlocked

Hood locks are a great idea, also the latch assembly can be moved a little bit to aid fitment, but as far as dropping it down a full inch, I think you'd have to reloacte it with a bracket, but it would be a simple *** bracket to fabricate...

I just wanna no if its a good idea to run just straight hood pins. They would be sparco hood pins and I dont ever get a chance to break 140mph. Would just pins be good? This is a street driven car so I dont know how safe thatd be but id find a way to make them fasten, unless locking hood pins are just as good
just a question is it a zc hood for a us spec crx or a jdm spec. the head ligths fenders hood are different for a jdm spec crx front end that is prolly your problem of it not fitting rigth.
without the latch it fit perfect, perfect everywhere. Just wanna know if only hood pins mounted reasonably inwards would hold the hood down at 200kph. Or if locking hood pins would be just as strong because they would be safer
Yes hood pins or locking hood pins will be fine. Take the latch off so the wind doesnt catch the hood and remove it. Its much safer with it flush and pinned, than and inch high and pinned.

now only thing is safety, ****** thieves can just walk up and pull the pins and have complete silent entry to my car right?? any ways to help here?
Of course that is with normal pins, locking pins are just as strong as a normal? I can get the set I posted in the first pic off ebay for like 40 US, do they go any cheaper?
Any ways to lock a normal without looking like ****?

I have regular pins on mine, and ive been to 115 a few times and they hold fine, and this is with no latch.
And about safety of the engine bay, just cuz u have pins on there doesnt mean that u wouldnt have a latch, so thieves arent going to think that. They will thinks its just as hard to get into as any other cars...and how many ppl do u kno of that just something in the engine bay was stolen?

Think I might just go to a local place, I think the locking look pretty stupid as its just a circle. Anyone think Ill have a theft problem?
Can I certify my car with the hood pins only, no latch?
thanks

those hood pins being used on a c/f hood without a stock style latch resulted in my hood flying up on me while on the road and smashing my windshield and roof... they are very difficult to line up and when you think they should be, they might not be!! trust me!

how fast were you going? I think I might just put the rubber liner piece off of my oem onto the fibreglass? that stuff is for that purpose right?
Wht method should I use? I dont think the oem latch is a possibility

the rubber lining is called weather stripping and its function is actually to prevent water from splashing into your engine bay from miscellenious areas... i suppose it might help!?!? i wouldnt know ive never had the rubber trim on my hood in the first place.
what i suggest you do is loosen the two bolts that keep the hood latch in place (on the rad. support) and lower the latch as far as it can go, from there adjust it to be able to latch and without a gap. I'm sure that your measurement is an exagoration so it should be fine. also, being that were talking fiberglass i HIGHLY reccomend getting hood pins as well. Sparco or Cusco would be best imo.
this should solve all your problems... oh yah, i was going about 55mph.

im not saying that lining everything up to be the same height will be easy but you can adjust the latching mechanism so that the stock latch will work alright and then adjust the level of the hood pins to lock properly... good luck

dude just go to your local Auto Zone and pick some up
i think they sell em for 15 bux and they work GREAT!!!
i have a friend that had problems with his **** getting jacked from under his hood and the generic ones are awesome they look decent and they work great without a latch mechanism they hold like a son of a gun and are cheap
reccomendation make shure the pin bolts are tight at all times(dont ask me how i know this)
p.s. auto zone sells the same ones that you pictured in the first post
