Default LMA noise/Rod Knock

I have just spent the last 2 hours reading thread after thread of LMA noise and Rod Knock. And I cant come to the conclusion on what i have.

Oil level is fine, when i first start the car, its there, tick tick tick...as i rev the motor, it gets faster. If i pull the spark plug wires(which was said if you had rod knock and you pull the wire, the knock will stop) after pulling the wires still tick tick tick...it was said that if it was a LMA it will stop in VTEC, i honestly do not want to go drive my car and see, because if its rod knock MAYBE my bottom end is still salvagable. What could this be LMA's or a rod knocking? - It just started tonight. The motor is a b20/vtec which get driven like a a grandma daily. never gotten on it, the motor has never seen above 7500. and its only seen 7500 maybe 5 times. I havent even gone into VTEC since feb 3rd. WHat could this possible be. I THINK and HOPE its LMA's, because the rod knock would suck.

Can anyone confirm that if you pull the spark plug wire, the noise will stop if you have rod knock?

TIA, Any help is appreciated
Matt

If it was LMA's it would not stop when you pulled the wire. When you pull the wire it takes the load of the rod bearing and it stops knocking.

Can you please clarify. I think you contridicted yourself. When I pull the wire, the sound DOES NOT stop, it continues. So this would mean its not a rod, CORRECT?

Just did a compression test it was 210-210-210-210. I believe it is the LMA, compression is fine, and we think its to fast of a tick to be a rod bearing.

If it is an LMA how long can you drive around on it? It would be getting changed in the next month, but is that to long? Would it cause any long term damage on the motor or valvetrain?

Sorry, when I read it I thought you said the noise went away when you pulled the wire.I know people have driven quit a while with a ticking LMA.You should be OK for a few weeks.
