Little to no power-I need help
I need help. I have a 1992 Acura Integra Rs. I've had it for about 4-5 years. It has about 133,000 miles on it. I've had no real serious problems with the engine performance until recently. Last night, I lost power from 2.5-3 RPMs. After 3 I felt the power kick back in. I got scared of bad gas, so I drove to the gas station, and picked up fuel injector cleaner and filled her up with Premium. I drove it around for a while afterward to let the injectors clean out...NOTHING. If anything it got worse. Now there is very little power. It kinda sputters. I can feel the car sputtering. It shakes a little with the amount of power. I think it may be the CAT. though I'm not sure. I need help. This is my only way to get around, and I can't afford to lose it. So if anyone has any input...It will be very welcome! Thanks.
That happened to my car on the highway about 2 weeks ago, for about 3 seconds. Man did it ever suck.
No solutions yet, though I can assure you it's not a MAP sensor problem, a fuel filter problem, or a fuel filter pickup screen problem. It may be a fault in the alternator or distributor. Inlinefour also suggested that it may be the fuel pump on the way out. I wish you the best of luck

Is it sputtering? It is prolly you ignitor going out in the distr,,,,try another distr. That should prolly fix it. Yes, it might be your fuel pump on its way to the dumpster.
Pull of your distributor cap and see if there is red dust all inside it. Also grab the rotor and see if it "wiggles"- if yes to either- your distributor bearing is hosed and your distributor shaft is probably knocking out your sensors as it rotates. As far as an igniter see what color it is and what brand is stamped on it- If it says OKI- and is brown or black- I would recommend replacing it (these are VERY unreliable). If it is light beige and says NEC or is green and says Hitachi- then you are good to go here. What were the engine conditions (temp, vehicle speed, etc) when this happened? You could also take a spraybottle and spray the ignition wires and distributor cap while the engine is running and look for arcing. If found- replace the part(s) with acura pieces.

Okay folks. After much stress, and very little work. I've solved and fixed my problem. I thank everyone who wrote, you helped alot. The problem was a spark plug wire. While the engine was running I pulled each plug out to see if it was working. One was not. The wire was very cracked and the spark was not shooting properly. I replaced the wires, and now it runs fine. So thankfully it was a chaep fix. Again, thanks for your help. -Dan
