A little electronics help please
I have an OEM style foglight kit. It's made by Esuse. The harness doesn't seem to plug right in like it should, I can't even figure out where they should go. I was planning on just hardiwring the kit, but I want to use the illuminating switch that was provided with the kit.
There's like 5 wires coming out of the switch, but I don't knwo which one's which. I dissassembled the switch and that helped a little. I know there's a DPDT switch, but don't know what it's connecting. And I don't know what ends are positive and negative on the switch's illuminating parts. THAT would help entirely, I could probably figure it out from there. If anyone has this kit or would be so kind as to tell me what wires are hot when the lights are on, etc, I would be greatly appreciated. TIA

there is no + or - on a switch so it really don't matter much as long as when the switch is off there is no conection from power to your lights, and when the switch is on there is power conected to your lights. Disconect everthing from the switch, and Use an Ohm meter between the different conections on the switch so U can figure out what terminals the switch is connecting when it's turned to on.
Or use a 9V battery and see which set of wires will illuminate the switch (dimly). Wire one of these to switched ignition or headlight circuit (depending on how you want them to come on) and one to ground. I'm assuming the kit came with a relay so wire the remaing 2 wires to that.
Thanks guys but I know how to hardwire the lights, I wanted to use the provided relay/switch/harnesses.
And yes it does matter which is pos/neg on the switch, there are 6 terminals, but 5 wires coming out. 2 are ground, 2 are positive in, and one is positive out.
I finally figured it out and only had to cut one wire to connect the switch to the illumination switch already in the dash. Thanks again.
