the lighter the flywheel the better?
Lighter isnt always better. What gives you the quick rev up is the reduction of rotational mass. But therefor the rpms will drop just as fast when you let off the gas. I would try to stick around a 12lb flywheel
Acelleration issue is not was is being debated. It is or was wether or not there were any downsides to lightening the FW. Is there a Limit? Is there a such thing as TOO LIGHT. The question behind this thread was Is it the case that the lighter yo go the better it is. I think that it needs to be defined in terms of what? Better in terms of WHat? Is Acceleration the only issue one considers when thinking to buy a lighter FW?
I think mostly everyone here has understood the concept of less rotational mass and fast acceleration. I also think it is safe to say that everyone here understands the fact that a Lighter FW doesn't porduce MORE power, but it produces power FASTER (Accelerated)
It's a very good thread and a wealth of knowledge.
