Default Learning...Help?

I was just told that when you are tuning with Hondata, you dont you have to run a O2 sensor. Is that correct?

you can run it in closed loop so the engine runs entirely off the maps

ic....is it better to run with an o2 sensor even when your car is tuned already with the map?

if you run without an o2 sensor the car will be on open loop. then all variables act on af's and such . unless the car is tuned to the tee ( meaning all multipliers iat vs. fuel, ect vs fuel , tip in, cold tip in, batt. offset, etc) then the tune will be affected by changing outside variables

if you can run on closed loop, then do it; no reason not to

oh...i see...i'm actually learning this in clean...Sorry for the newbie question...but everybody gotta start somewhere right?..Thx btw for replying...but i have a few more questions...it'll be great if you guys can continue helpin me learn..

1. I'm tuned with hondata s200, i'm sure the tune isn't tune perfectly...So if i run the car in close loop (no o2 sensor from my understanding) the car will run on that map completely right? If so, depending on what the outside temp is when i tuned the car, that'll be the temp that the car will run it's best, if it's any colder or hotter, then the car will run ******* because the computer can't tell how the car is running interms of AF w/o the o2 sensor..Currect?

2. What is the differance between close and open loops so i know fo sure the definition of it.

closed loop = use of o2 sensor feedback
open = straight off maps

yeah when in open loop the engine will be susceptible to temp, at. pressure, humidity, etc. changes
there are multipliers that modify the map in regards of temperature changes in IAT's , ect's, battery voltage and altitude. but those have to be set . stock car the # are pretty close but once you get into changing cams/compression/im's all that goes to dudu and has to be set
