LCAs: ITR vs DC/EG
I plan on getting a rear sway and some pimpy new coilovers for my EG so I picked up some ITR LCAs this past week. Problem is, finding a nice set (1500+ new) of used coilovers that mate to the ITR rears is proving difficult. Is there any disadvantage to dumping the ITR LCAs and just going with something that is compatible with more hardware (has holes for sway but takes EG or DC [not R] shocks)? I'd have to think there was some reason for Honda engineers to make the ITR rear shock mount different, I just don't know why...

i dont think theres a disadvantage i mean theyre both thick pieces of steel. are you asking about flexing and whatnot?
why not try some of these blingbling SRR or 'megan' LCAs. theyre lighter and supposedly better than all stock ones.
plus you get the hot purple with srr.
a friend got the megan ones off ebay for like 90 bux too
No I'm not talking about flexing or anything (unless that is a factor with stock lcas). Just wondering if anyone had any insight on why Jonda engineers chose to make the ITR pieces differ from all the others.
Also, no point in burning $100 for "bling-bling" LCAs when I can pick up a set of stockers w/ stock bushings (I've heard horror stories of Megans and SRR bushings).

The way the rear struts hook into ITR LCAs gives a bit of passive rear steering. There was a bunch of posts about it last fall in the Road Race/Autocross forums. Older CRXes had a similar setup.

just some fyi..
ITRS and CRX's aren't the only vehicles that came with the ITR style rear LCA or 'box style' rr lca. Pretty much, all JDM EF+EG civics & DA+DC integra's all came equipped with these rear LCA's. Why Honda of America US only chose the ITR & CRX to sport these LCA's is a mystery, but for the US ITR I'm betting they wanted to keep the Japanese Type-R theme to the car as much as possible (minus, not changing the front end).
You can easily find $1500+ suspension to fit into your ITR LCA's. Tein, Apexi, JIC, etc., all make sus that will fit into your LCA's. You just need to order Integra Type-R specific suspension for your car and you can put those LCA's to use.
