Knocking noises when plugs in??????
i was driving my B20/Vtec and when i hit vtec threw 2nd gear the motor hesitated then started making a loud knocking noise. i thought i blew the rods. after looking at it i saw no broken or bent rods. it sounded like the pistons were hitting the top of the head which wasnt the case either. there are no marks on the pistons or the head. the noise only happens when the i start putting in a spark plug one at a time, so with 1 plug alittle knocking 2 plugs more knocking etc. with no plugs no noise????? could this b the rods still??? i changed the rings . i also have low compression still in 1 and 3 cyl.???? what could this be, someone please HELP
not a mechanic but... isnt compression either your piston rings or relations to your valves? So, assuming it knocks also... wouldnt knocking mean either detonation or valves? Just asking cause I am not a mechanic but a thinker.
dont the valves only move when the camshafts are in the motor??? or do they pull down from suction of the pistons, because the noise still occurs without the cams installed, just the head is bolted down with the intake manifold. no distributor or nothing. my rods have a little endplay but they r suppose to right, at least thats what the haynes manual says. endplay is between 0.006-0.012 in. someone else told me there should not be any play, so this why i have plenty of confusion. someone help
