we just installed the front two struts and coilovers on a firends 96 accord
(kyb agx, obx coilovers)
after the install there is a strange knocking noise that we can hear
so basically whenever there is a bump or dip in the road we hear the noise
anyone any idea?

 

Hmm........ are all the bolts tight?

Is the strut bolted firmly on the car?

Did you put the bushings/washers in the right order for the stabilizer bar?

Is the spring secure within the strut?

Is everything aligned right, pinch bolt, through bolt, etc..?

something is loose for sure... double check everything and make sure everythings tight. Also use an impact gun to tighten the nut on the shock.

 

You don't need that, just tighten it the best you can, that should suffice. Just make sure the spring still isn't loose within the strut.

the nuts that go on the strut themselves were lose, this stoped the knocking.

? when tightening these nuts after so far the strut "top or whatever its called"
the piece that has the adjutable dial on top of it anyway that starts to spin along with the nut did i miss a washer or something?? or is it tighten enough?

 

Tighten is as much as you can w/ out stripping the SOB. Hehe. You remember having to pop em pretty good before they would come off? Make them that tight again.
