Knocking, need help......Big nightmare
Sorry for the long story but I really need help
I have been working on my B20 vtec turbo build now for ever.
I put it together with my friend JDMotorsport on the site; everything was to specs we just couldn’t get the timing to match up. I had my car at his place for a year piecing my motor together and didn’t feel it was fair to keep it there any longer.
I called a mechanic to fix the timing and to put the turbo and cooling lines on the car and he agreed, after it was completed he said he new a great tuner. I told him to go ahead and get him to tune my car.
I keep getting calls that something is wrong with my car once a week, this goes on for about a month: the turbo isn’t spooling right, oh I fixed it was a shop rag in the FMIC hot side it is now boosting 22PSI. I only had a 6 PSI spring and told him the motor was fresh and I wanted to break it in properly with low boost. Next call I get is of the cams locked up and I had to tow it back to the shop, lucky I had the Je Pistons and they didn’t get smacked. Then the turbo seized because the metal from the fresh motor got stuck in the turbo filter and starved from oil, I now had to buy a new turbo.
Finally I get the call that my car is tuned right and to drive down 1 1/2 hours to get it, I am stoked. I meet with the tuner at the shop that is closed, I look the car over he takes the cash $1400 bucks for some chrome tuning and the turbo. At this point I just wanted to get my baby home and didn’t care, except for after I handed the money over the guy tells me I probably shouldn’t drive the car home because it sounds like it spun a bearing. I get pissed "WTF you mean", crank it up to 3K rpm so I can hear it. I didn’t hear anything but the oil pressure wouldn’t build up at all. I told him I am not driving this thing 100 miles to get home like this; I wouldn’t have made it more than 20 miles down the road and got stuck.
ONE YEAR yes one year later he finally replaces the bearings and tells me to come picks it up, I drive down not trying to be too excited. I test drive it but it feels even slower than my damn Type S, I pull back into the shop and tell him the damn turbo isn’t spooling up. Mechanic looks around and can’t figure it out so I look and see that the charge pipe is loose. We got it tightened on and I go for a spin again, this time the car freaking pulls hard as **** and it’s hard to keep traction all the way until halfway thru 3rd gear and I have a huge grin on my face. After I pulled in I notice some coolant leaking and told him he fixed it and I was happy, hooked my baby up to the car dolly and went on my way home.
Took the car out the next day to drive it around a bit and get it broken in, warmed her up nice for 10 min and went on my way. About 3 miles down the road she starts to over heat real fast so I pulled over and let her cool down and top her off. The gauge looked good so I went on my way hit boost a few times and noticed every time I would boost the temp gauge would rise almost as fast as the boost gauge. That was it and I decided to take her back home, as I am getting closer to my house I start to hear a familiar knocking (rod knock)
.I don’t have anytime on my hands nor the tools and place to work on my car anymore, I take the car to a nearby mechanic and he confirms the rod knock. I have the mechanic replace all rod, main bearings and the HG. I was just informed from the mechanic that he put it all together but it is still knocking and I am freaking clueless what is wrong with this damn motor.
Specs

etc etc
I say you cut your losses and either: A) take ALL related automotive courses at your local community college and build if yourself B) buy a SRT-4 C) Buy a Mustang
As you can see, I think you don't have many options, and most do not involve Hondas
