here's the deal
changed timing belt last night. had cams lined up perfectly but when lining up mark on crank pulley with mark on block, belt would not fit. the mark on the block lined up on the LEFT side of the tooth, whereas the mark is on the RIGHT side. if i lined up the marks, the belt was half a tooth off. this is how it was before i removed the belt, also.
today i have a knock at tip-in and a bit when accelerating. i have been told it is most likely bad gas (had to put in 87 instead of 91 the other day). i added a couple bottles of octane booster (supposedly raises it 2 for each bottle. according to the claims on the bottle, that'll put me at 91) and topped off my tank (was a bit above half) with 91.
i still have a knock.
a couple questions:
1. why would this start happening all of a sudden? it drove fine before i started.
2. could it be the gas and the computer is just going to take some time to get it back to normal? is this why it still knocks?
3. could this be why my idle is a bit rough?
4. do i just need to adjust the timing?
the idle seems a bit rough now too. i don't know a way to explain it other than the idle runs like:
-----------------*-----------------------------*--------------------------------
i hope that helps. it doesn't really miss badly.. just a bit. this could just be me being paranoid.
any help??

take your time and reset the timing. sounds likes its off a couple degrees. check ur ignition timing first, that will tell you if your engine timing is off very quickly.
check ur plugs too...octane booster can foul up plugs pretty bad. if they are red then definatley get new ones. i lost a brand new set after using some 5 point increase octane booster. they were brittle as **** too. good luck. oh yea check ur timing too definatley
