Default k24 and the honda element

i cant for the life of me find the engine code for the honda element. i go on there forums but it doesnt seem like they're too interested in that sort of thing.

all ive found is that its a 2.4L i-vtec engine. and it looks like a kseries motors, so i figure its a k24...

but why is it only 160 hp while the k24 in the tsx is 200. the comp is also higher in the tsx. whats the difference in the two engines?

its a k24a something and uses the same head design as the base rsx/civic si,which is why it only has 160hp.The tsx is basically a 2.4l rsx engine which is why it has 200hp.

the tsx also revs a lot higher and has drive by wire throttle activation.

yeah, thats why itd seem to be really hard to swap a tsx k24 into a civic or somthing. cuz of the throttle by wire.

so, its basically a rsx k24 kinda.

I'm just curious; what difference does it make that it has drive-by-wire? This shouldn't affect the power output. Also, what's the point of DBW anyway? How hard is it to install a simple cable from the accelerator pedal to the throttle body in a FWD car? I can understand it in a mid-engine car like the NSX where the cable has to travel under the car, but in a regular FWD car, it's only a couple feet long.

well you can swap on a diff intake manifold and throttle body since the amount of fabrication to modify a throttle body that is not designed to run with a cable will make it more effort than it is worth.

and in the end why not jsu swap on an rsx-s or integra-r head and get the best head and manifold of all from the factory?
