Default Re: K series (Kal)

It depemds on which b series and which k series...but ill compare a k20a2 with a b18c5
k20 has oller rockers for all cam lobes
k20 has a smaller stroke,but larger bore
the intake and exhaust ports of the K are larger
the intake and exhause valves of the K are larger
the engine spins in the opposite direction
the intake is towards the front and exhaust towards the back..exactly opposite on b18c
the K engine uses individual coils for each cylinder,as opposed to a distributor w/ 1 coil as on the B
the transmission is a 6 speed on the K and 5 speed on the B
K series have chain driven cams
The K series tranny is cable shifted
K has higher compression
K block girdle is larger and is bolted to the block, not just connected to the mains.
K head can be completely disassembled, the cam caps are cast with the head, and the rockers/rocker shaft doesnt go in the head, there all on the head and can be unbolted..so if you ruin cam caps or lose some, just find another trashed rsx head..no need to have a machine shop line hone them.
There's probably a few more, but its late and im tired..There's also alot more differences in other K models but im typing too much right now so ill do other K engine tomorrow.
