Default Just swapped JDM S20 Transmission problems :( help?

Hey guy, did a tranny swap on my 1998 honda civic si (d16y8), finished this morning.

1) when the engine is off the gears will go in fine

2) when the car is idling and the clutch is in, the gears are VERY hard to go in.

3) Also at idle, when trying to put the car in to reverse its grates HARD.

The somewhat good:

4) When the car is moving the gears will go in very very smooth, even at 7,000RPM, no grinding, nothing.

5) Dont ever do, but just for the hell of it i tried to see if it would go into first while down shifting, and it went it in fine no problem???

Could possibly be that when you installed the clutch, it didnt line up perfectly. Had this happen to me in an Accord. Car would go into gears when the engine is off but wont when the engine is on. It grinds like a biotch when you try to put it into reverse. You should check for loose mounts tranny fluid, etc again just to verify things. But im pretty positive its the clutch that did not line up properly.

If the clutch didn't line up, the tranny wont be able to bolt to the engine, because the tranny input shaft has to go into the the pilot bearing. Even if that was the case, Once you press the clutch, it would align it self. Also the Pressure Plate is on dowel pins, so its impossible to align the clutch kit wrong with a bolted up tranny.

Don't think its the master cylinder because the slave cylinder works fine, but I already plan to change the master cylinder tomorrow anyhow.

BTW Thanks for all the input guys
