just picked up a b16 block. need some help
so i pick up this b16 block for $100 off cl.
when i get there the guy tells me he had it re stamped with d16y7 so if he gets pulled over the cops dont tow his car away. he said the code under the engine type is the original one though. i can tell the stamp was redone and is not original. but idk how to tell exactly what engine this is. i was told its a 1st gen b16
also, it looks to me like its sleeved. maybe stock sleeve? or aftermarket? or maybe im wrong and its not. i dont really know much about b series so if someone could give me some info it would help me out a lot
oh yea, this pipe coming from the thermostat housing, how do i remove that? the end is flared in on both sides

My b16a ej6 was stolen 3 months ago and last month I came across my swap on craigs and the dude changed the '6' to a '8'. He left the serial number alone, which I had pics of, and listed it as a LSVTEC jdm b18a block w/ b16 head. That was to try and throw me off I guess.
the second i saw that stamp i totally thought, STOLEN BLOCK!! Definitely interesting the things people do to keep from being noticed, but on a side note, assume just for the sake of arguement a cop did check the motor and the cop happen to be someone that knows hondas, wouldnt that be a bigger issue for tampering with it when he sees a b16 head with a d16y7 stamp?

yea i didnt really think about that till after i bought it. but i think ill go have it stamped correctly.
another question, wtf did the 1st gen b16 even come out of?
and if it was nothing in the us, what car should i use when looking up stuff at parts stores?

to take the coolant pipe off take the 2 10mm bolts out from thermostat housing aqnd twist and pull. Its will be easier to shoot some wd40 on the block where the neck is it has an o ring there.
i don't think it's a 1st gen b16. you can see the spot where the vin tag is supposed to go right above the oil pan. oil pump is obd2 also. (i know those can be replaced, but usually only when the motor gets rebuilt)
i'm gonna go with most likely stolen.

I was sayin' that as a downside lol Don't think I'm sayin' you should buy stolen parts dude. I honestly wouldn't have bought it with a re-stamped ID. Just sayin' thats insanely cheap, EVEN for someone who's tryin' to get rid of a stolen block. Don't be so hostile man..

Pistons say pr3 and obd2 oil pump, it could also be a b16a2. Can you post a pic of the back of the block? Mainly looking for the fan switch (2 pins)
