JDMhondaparts.com Engines
hey guys, i was just wondering if anyone had experience with buying a motor through JDMhondaparts.com. How exactly does the shipping and stuff work...and is it work ordering a motor or trying to find one locally. And is 3600 a pretty decent price for b18c......just wondering what others thought.....thanks
You might think about finding one from somewhere else...I got my B16 from there, and had a few things go wrong that shouldn't have, b16a1 lil older engine, but I think it must have sat for a couple years, engine was locked up. Not to say they are a bad place, but I wish I had done rescearch before buying from them.
i got my motor from there, and boy was it junk! it looked like it sat in the desert for like a year with everything rotted and it also had bad axles, no map sensor, etc..................! i belive you can also find better prices somewhere else! try http://www.hondamotorsonline.com my freinds deal with that dude, think his name is dave? but very nice fast service and also well priced!
Hey everyone, I got my JDM B16 SiR-II from JDMHondaparts and it runs really well, although I do know what everyone is talking about with the sitting outside because my vtec solenoid has surface rust along with my fuel pressure regulator. My axles were bad I got with it but I got brand new ones from an auto parts store in exchange for my old ones, I also was sent the wrong shift linkage, but as far as my motor, it runs really really well and has been strong on the track and I have had no problems. I also got my skunk2 coilovers from them and my friend got his ecu chipped by Katman, so, I guess maybe I got lucky with my motor or you guys just had bad luck or something, but thats my 2 cents
I'm not defending jdmhondaparts or the customer or future customers here. I don't deal with selling engines or any other parts for jdmhondaparts.com. I just maintain the website and provide the ECU reprogramming services....

...but not every 88-91 B16A engine is in mint condition you know. In fact, not every B16A 92+ is mint either. If you get a little rust on your fuel rail or fuel pressure regulater...so be it! its not gonna be all shiny and beautiful when you get it. Some are some aren't that's just the way it is when buying an imported USED engine. Most of the 89-91 cable type B16A engines, about 90% of the time have a busted *** TPS sensor.....its easy to fix -- you just reuse the one off your SOHC engine. Actually most of the sensors that are on a SOHC engine will work on a B16A engine, that is, if you find a broken sensor on your B16A engine.....bought from whichever company you bought it from.
No one really knows, exactly, how long a motor sits in JDM storage either, before it's sent over here. So, you can't really blame a US online/non-online(such as JHP or others), if your motor looks like crap, because a lot of companies sell the motors 'as they were recieved', from Japan or from the container from Japan.
also, when buying an 89-91 B16A engine, there's a 50/50 change the motor is suuuper clean. Think about it....it's an OLD engine, what? 11-13 years old? of course its gonna be a bit dirty and ugly in comparision to a 92+ B16A engine!
...as far as recieving the wrong axles or wrong items with your engine, that's another story -- you should take up with whichever online company you're buying from.

I wasn't trying to talk bad about JDMHP or anything if thats how it came across, I totally understand that those motors sit outside in japan. I was actually trying to help by saying how well my motor is running and I have been very pleased with it. I will continue to do business with JDMHP with any parts they have or sell for a competitive price. I was just trying to state the condition that my motor was when recieved, more or less, not complaining about it. Like Katman said, those motors sit in japan outside im sure and the US distributors have nothing to do with it. I am sure if it was one of our fellow HT members pulling and storing motors they would not get in such condition.
I haven't checked the actual year on my motor yet, but since it is SiR-II its still at least like 8 years old or something, so things are going to get broken like sensors over that amount of time. Also someone can't expect to just buy something that old and not expect having anything be wrong. We used some things off of my old sohc motor and sometimes there are just small misc. things you have to put up with. It's just part of being into this scene. Its work, yea, but have fun with it. Also as far as wrong sent items, sometimes its hard to get responses from those people who sent the wrong thing, but hey, deal with it and just forget about it if it wasnt a huge loss, thats what I did. Everyone makes mistakes.

I'm sorry, my post wasn't aimed @ you -- nor did i take it as an offense to jdmhondaparts.com, etc.. Anyone can rant, bitch, or praise jdmhondaparts.com all they want. That's up to the customer. I'm just making a point to EVERYONE on this thread, that not all 89-91 B16A engines are beautiful & have perfect complexions (sp?), like they think they should be. that's all.
it's all good..
well i am sure there are many happy customers with jhp but i was not one, and i was making it clear! it took about 3 months to get engine and it was junk, though i am not one to complain so i kept it to myself and just led myfriends to other places thats all, and i dont want to see someone else go though what i did!
lol, nah its cool. I didnt really take it the wrong way, I just didnt want it to sound like I was bitching too. When is the new FF squad page going to be up? Hope its all Flash. If you get time Katman I wouldn't mind discussing some web design junk with you, since im a graphic design major, but im sure your busy, but anyway, im out for now, gluck for everyone doing swaps, im saving for JUN stage III's.....late

hehe its in the works...im just lagging big time. Some of it will be in flash. I'm learning some flash stuff right now, one of my main reasons of lagging is just that. You can hit me up privately about web design if you'd like. I'm not a pro....so don't get thinking i know everything about it
