jdm b16, is it stock??
i baught a jdm b16, and ive swapped it into my 89 hatch. i baught it from a guy that got it from a guy, so i know none of the history of the engine. now i did a compression test the right way(took all plugs out, throttle open) and i got 200-208 on all cylinders. that seems kind of high for a stock first gen b16 to me, and also the tranny that came with it is a s1 and someone put a lds in it. the prevous owner told me he installed gsr cams but thats all he knew was modified. so, is there any simple/easy things to tell me whats been done to it? if anything at all?
XTD is red. Thats an EBAY brand. ACT is usually yellow. There really isnt any way to tell what the motor has done to it unless you pull the head off and drop the oil pan and cheack rods and pistons. Take the valve cover off and see if the Valve springs and retainers and etd are aftermarket.
Like i said, theyre an Ebay brand. They usually sell them as a clutch/flywheel combo. like $170.00 for both so yea. If you got spare cash to get a real clutch, its jump on it. On a B16 you dont need anything crazy (trust me i had one in my car 4 years, turbo, all motor, nitrous. every stage you can have a motor) GEt like an ACT 6 puck stage 2 pressure plate or an exedy full disk stage 2 pressure plate.
