Hey guys, need some fast input as I need to get my car running pretty soon. I have an LS block that I purchased with ITR pistons and stock rods. The dude said it has ITR rod bolts. My questoin is how reliable are these ITR rod bolts comparing to the ARP's ? The block is already assembled on an engine stand, should I just go out and purchase some ARP's ?
Any input before I am forced to spend money on the arp rod bolts, resize, shot peen, machine shop ect ect..
I had $400 to throw my LSvtec in,( All I needed was head studs and gaskets & fluids ) but with finding out the block I purchased infact did not have ARP rod bolts like I thought, I am forced to spend more money..
I tried searching but all I could come up with was ITR with ARP's.. or something.. nothing about ITR rod bolts..
TIA!!!!

I don't remember exactly, but I want to say that only the ITR rod bolts had the dimples to install a stretch gage so that they could be stretched to spec instead of torqued to yield.
i doubt those are ITR rod bolts. the LS rods uses smaller/thinner stud type bolts 8mm i believe. the ITR bolts i think are 9mm.
unless they drilled/machined the rods for those bolts the strength of the rod "might" have been compromised...it might be fine but you never know. a set of ARP bolts for those LS rods is cheap enough it would not really make sense to spend the extra machine work to make ITR bolts work.

Ok. Thanks. I'll just get some arp rod bolts. Anyone know if the machine shop would charge extra to shop peen the rods since they are in the block. And they'd have to come out for the arp's anyways. Or they'd charge for like disassembly ?

Right. I guess what I'm saying though. Is since new arp rod bolts are going in. Would the cost of shot peening the rods be more or less since they are coming out anyways.
