Default ITR intake manifold

Im just wondering what good this could do me on my b16a1. Right now I have the smallest TB opening of any b series motor which im aware of so I would guess I need to change everything on the whole intake manifold including fuel rail, tb, maybe some sensors. It seems like a pain and a kick in the wallet so is it worth it?

I also have CTR cams, adjustable sprockets, and itr valve springs installed

would probably gain a little top end and lose some low and mid range.

FYI, ALL b16a, b17a, b18a/b/c1, h22a have same diameter TB.
Only ITR, S2K, and H22A Type-S have larger TB.

it's worth it.
Your powerband will feel more smoother up to redline, especially top end like what SGT says. Of course it dyno's more power but you can actually tell it performs better over the stock B16A int. manifold. If you noticed, with the stock manifold, when you bone out, up top towards redline, it seems to struggle.....but when you go ITR manifold that all goes away.

if you have an 89-91 b16a, yes you'll need a 92+ B16A or 94+ B-series fuel rail and IACV sensor from a 92-01 EX/99+ Si coupe/ or 92-95 Si.

and its even better that you have R cams, adj. sprockets, and R v.springs. To bad you dont have a set of CTR slugs in your block though! heh..

I've got a B17A with i/h/e and I've been thinking about installing a Type R or other after market intake manifold. I know it will work best with a new TB, but is there anything else that will need to be changed?

There are three sizes of throttle body for B series engines, 58mm for b16a1. They're 60mm on b16a2 and 62 on the type R. If you're gonna fit a type R intake manifold I'm pretty sure you need an aftermarket fuel rail and a b16A2 IACV.

I had the R intake manifold on my 1G B16a a while back, dumped it because I didn't like the loss of low-mid range power. Each to their own.

Here's the steps for the conversion http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/asmsbm/r_iminstall.htm

thanks for all the info guys! looks like i probably wont go for it. doesnt seem like its worth the $$$. But what about getting a slightly larger tb? mine is the 58mm one. Would a 60mm make much difference?
