Intermediate (half) shaft on A D-series trans
is there any possible way to use an intermediate shaft from a b-series on a D-series transmission...i havent tried it yet but i know that the zc utillizes an intermediate shaft will that fit on a D-series trans...or is there another way of getting around using an intermediate shaft...let me know i'm very curious any help will be appreciated...mods if this is the wrong place to post then go ahead and move it...thanks...
there are different numbers of splines on ZC (JDM) and 1g Integra half-shafts, which are both d-series. I am somewhat uncertain which of those two will work with what, but the b-series axles WILL NOT work with the d-series engines. I have a half-shaft from a 1g Integra and it seems to have a different number of splines from the axle in my d16z6 transmission...so...hope that helps!
thanks...i'm not sure how i will get it to work if the splines do fit b/c there is no place to mount the intermediate shaft on the engine...but i'll keep doin my homework till then...
Unfortunately there is only 1 bolt hole to line up with the intermediate half shaft on most d series motors except old d series and most ZCs. There was a OBDI ZC motor that came with the intermediate half shaft but it used 94-up axles rather than 90-93 axles. Also, you might need a special deferential or LSD to have it all work. As rare as the parts can be, might as well think about getting a motor swap that has the intermediate half shaft there, h, k, b series. I like d series but the torque steer is just too much to autox.
