Default Intake Manifold Porting - Skunk2 D16 Unit

Hello all,

I've got a fully bulid d16y8 in my EF complete with the following just to give you an idea...

12.25:1 compression
Alaniz competition head
Crower stage 3 race cam/valvetrain
Apexi Power FC/commander
Untouched skunk2 intake/SMS exhaust w/2.5" custom mandrel
Pump 94 octane, daily driven

There's much more into it but that gives you the idea of where i'm at...i recently put down 143whp/112wtq on Jeff Evans Dynapack while tuning which proved through comparison to be ~160whp/120wtq on a local dynojet.

As you can see i've got a pretty beefy torque curve in the midrange...and don't want to let go of too much of it if any.

I've seen people port stock manifolds and even Endyn do a B-series skunk2 mani, removing 2lb of material, and i've seen people port stockers on this site. On a fully NA built motor do you think taking material out will hurt me? It's a D16 which i only take to 7500.

What do you guys think, should i buy another skunk2 and...just clean it up removing cast surface? try to take some material out of the runners? or cut it open and go to town opening up the runner to plenum transition?

Who's done this a few times and seen the results...preferably with an aftermarket manifold.

Thanks
Vince

nice numbers

no input on the porting though....i barely touched my y8 manifold, just a clean up and some porting to match the TB.

if you are going to port the manifold you will want it matched to you head and done by some one who has some experience with it.. its not just about removing material and calling it a day but if you do plan on doing it your self(and im assuming you are not a head porter ) try just to clean it up and yes there is plenty of power in manifolds if done right . not trying to be a dick but its not 160 on a dynojet its more like 123 give or take a few ponies. the dyno pack shows more horses than the dyno jet .

Not on Jeff Evan's Dynapack...i dyno'd with another person that same day who put down 138whp/109wtq and the next week at a local dynojet put down 155whp/117wtq.

It's all how the user sets up the perameters/sensors/settings...the only way to tell how two different dyno's will read is to make a pull on each.
