Install a fuel cell? Yes? No?
Like many road course racers, I've got a baffling problem in my car. As soon as the tank goes under a quarter tank, I suck air on hard rights. So, do I go fuel cell. My CRX is a hatch, so carrying fuel in the passenger compartment does create some risk. Flipping it would result in fuel sprayed all over the place. NHRA - not that I drag race - has pretty strick rules on putting fuel cells in hatchbacks. A fire wall needed and I think the whole cell needs to be completely sealed in a box with fueling from the outside. Anyway, that's more than I'm willing to do, but I want to follow the strictest rules possible on the install, so I feel safe. Friends have had limited success with foam, and bigger baffles. I was also considering installing a sump at the bottom of my tank, but worry it's an easy thing to get knocked off and a great way to dump all your fuel on the track. Anyone have any experience with this? Advice would be greatly appreciated.
